Ecological apples
"The Fire of Sumedru" - bonfires are organised at St. Demetrius' Day

The Concept behind the October Special is to get those interested involved for at least one week - though you may find it needs more than just one week to see most of it - in traditional agricultural activities. For late October, we propose the picking of apples from our orchard, getting them to the market, preparing them and storing them. We hope, by the end of your stay with us, you shall get aquainted with all the traditional activities of the Romanian peasants, and shall come that far, as to love the ecological, non-chemical, non-industrialized way of doing things around this part of the world. Parties shall take place from time to time - the unspoiled life of a village. | |
The period is the second half of October and the first half of November, that we usually pick up the apples from the trees, within that timeframe, you can choose to stay either just one week, or several. This year, in 2010, we shall start with the 15th October. Gypsies shall sing for us and we shall have plenty of opportunities to party as well, moreover, around October 26th (that is St. Demetrius' Day in the Christian-Orthodox Calendar), big bonfires are organised all around the place to clean up the unuseful small wood and leaves.
